BPW/Oldham County; Fall Ball to benefit Oldham County Public Library, Nov. 11 2006

Fall Ball is BPW/Oldham County's largest annual community service project. This year will be our ninth annual Fall Ball.

We are pleased to announce the 2006 Fall Ball recipient, the Oldham County Public Library.

The Oldham County Public Library is a non-profit service-oriented business whose mission is to provide for the educational, recreational and informational interests of county residents. The library's role in Oldham County, as it is historically for public libraries throughout the United States, is to acquire, organize and make accessible knowledge and thereby create a culture of literacy in all citizens. The Library provides current, high demand, high interest materials in various formats. It also provides access to the Internet and performs a variety of services for community residents of all ages to help meet their personal, educational and professional needs, thus insuring a higher quality of life for the community. Special emphasis is placed on helping individuals achieve life long learning goals through independent learning and formal educational pursuits, and on stimulating young children's interest and appreciation for reading and learning.
With the planned opening of a new main library in LaGrange, the library hopes to become a focal point in the community it serves, an inviting place that people of all ages, interests and abilities will turn to for knowledge, entertainment, information, cultural enrichment and friendly assistance in finding and using the resources available to them.

We sponsor this annual gala event each year to benefit a local, Oldham County charity. Over the past six years, BPW/Oldham County has raised more than $80,000 for Oldham County non-profit organizations including these previous recipients: Make-A-Wish Foundation®, Habitat for Humanity, Apple Patch Community, Tri-County Community Action Agency, and YMCA of Oldham County.
